Kenya is leading in climate governance through progressive laws and global engagement but faces a delivery gap due to fragmented efforts and underuse of non-state actors. Rising climate threats, especially for vulnerable populations, demand urgent, inclusive, and coordinated action. The Climate Action Summit 2025 seeks to unify systems, boost institutional capacity, and position Kenya strongly ahead of COP30 through flagship initiatives like the Nairobi River Regeneration Project.
Objectives:
Institutionalize climate-responsive delivery across all government levels
Integrate non-state actors (NGOs, communities, private sector, academia)
Showcase scalable models of policy-to-practice
Elevate the Nairobi River Regeneration as a national resilience pilot
Promote green jobs and climate-smart infrastructure
Align with COP30, Paris Agreement, and SDGs
Summit Format (4 Days):
1. Leadership & Governance: National policy alignment and institutional coordination
2. Community Action: Grassroots innovations and inclusivity
3. Urban Resilience: Green infrastructure and adaptation technologies
4. Demonstration & COP30 Alignment: Nairobi River field visit and Kenya’s climate roadmap
