Even though this Workshops focus is capturing the night sky our daily schedule is planned around all things celestial. Sunrise in this location is at 6:21 am and sets at 6:06pm. For our night shooting having a New Moon (no moonlight) is ideal so it does not influence our scene. For what we call nightscaping simply plan to operate as if you would be working a night shift.Physical difficulty of this location is relatively easy but can be moderately strenuous walking in soft sand. It is important that participants be in good physical health and able to carry (equipment) what they bring. While many locations will be a short distance from a parking lot, there is a possibility for longer walks across soft sand and dunes. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events6/banners/3daceb90-0313-11f0-98a0-0d7fd6f07b0c-rimg-w1112-h740-dc2e312f-gmir.jpg ITINERARYA few weeks prior to the Workshop we will have an online meeting to discuss and be prepared for the possibility of shooting on the first night. The Workshop officially kicks off at 2:00pm on March 16, 2026 and at that time we will review and prepare our equipment for night sky shooting. We will have a daily schedule that serves as an outline or guide that will allow flexibility to outings we plan. The one constant that will be maintained will be our classroom / post processing sessions from 1:00pm to 3:00pm daily. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events8/banners/3de14200-0313-11f0-9e58-a1f988df7308-rimg-w1108-h740-dc485f73-gmir.jpg RECOMMENDED CAMERA GEAR and MOREDSLR / Mirrorless Camera (full-frame sensor preferable)Lenses for Night Sky: 14mm to 35mm with an aperture of f/2.8 or widerLenses for general purpose: for our daytime outings bring what you have from wide-angle to large telephoto zoom. "description": "Robert W. Fawcett (Bob) - Retired from 31 years of Government service, 26 of those years as a Forensic / Scientific / Technical Photographer. Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the interest in photography began early with Dad taking the family on those weekend drives through the country, taking in the scenery down those back roads never explored. Little did I know back then it would become a career that would take me on a journey to places around the globe. That journey began in Washington, D.C. in October of 1985. As I continue the journey the plan is to share with others the passion of photography and pass along the experiences from the days of film to the current digital world. From the beginning and up to this present time I have always been a true believer of shooting in a manual mode, using the three things of what photography is ISO, Aperture and Shutter. When mastered one can be in total control of light and the vision in your mind to capture the creative images you desire.**Since retiring in 2017 I am available for individual one on one instruction and photography tutoring for the following: Manual Photography (gain confidence in your shooting without getting frustrated with all the bells and whistles), Macro Photography, and Post Processing with Photoshop. Additional instruction on any technique that may have been employed or used on any images posted on this site, focus stacking, panoramic, long exposure etc. Please check my Facebook Photography page under EVENTS for current Photography Workshops for current offerings. Check back often as I continue to update the EVENTS and feel free to submit any inquiry via email**All images seen here are available at: www.rfawcett.com "
