HOT AUGUST NIGHT ('NEIL DIAMOND - THE TRIBUTE') starring ROB GARRETT & the K.O.D. Band
Neil Diamond may have retired from the live concert circuit (due to being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease this past January) but the "Hot August Night " live concert legacy will go on.
On August 17th Neil will release his 3rd "Hot August Night " live album which was recorded at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in August 2012 and the very next day on Saturday, August 18th, Rob Garrett and band return for their annual 'Hot August Night - Vegas' show at the CANNERY casino & hotel before winding up a very successful summer tour with 5 nights at the Riverside Resort, Hotel, & Casino in Laughlin , NV (8/22 - 8/26).
Aside from winning numerous awards over the years, Garrett has been critically acclaimed for his uncanny physical and vocal resemblance to a late ‘70s early ‘80s era Neil Diamond, and is arguably considered the world’s most requested, well-known, and respected Neil Diamond tribute artist - so much so that he is very often referred to as the “King of Diamonds”. His replication of an early 1980's Diamond on stage has been described as "uncanny" - so much so that he has been known to make his audience forget they are not watching the real one.
Like his legendary counterpart, Garrett was born in New York City, and ever since he was a kid he had 3 musical idols, Elvis, The Beatles, and Diamond.
On July 6, 1976 during the country's Bicentennial week, he got to see Neil for the very first time with his mother when the pair went to the final show during the Grand Opening of the Theater For The Performing Arts at the Aladdin Hotel & Casino. Neil Diamond was the first entertainer to perform on the huge stage, and at that time it was the largest indoor performing center in Nevada, seating some 7,500. Diamond broke all existing concert records in Las Vegas at that time.
Over the years Garrett got to watch both of his heroes in Las Vegas and elsewhere. He actually saw Presley 18 times in Vegas and 5 times while living in New York City as a young boy.
After the Aladdin opening, he got to see Diamond 16 more times - the last time being August 12, 2017 at the Forum in in Los Angeles which, as it stands, could very well turn out to be Diamond's last major concert ever in the United States.
The “King of Diamonds” band at the features Billy Carmody (drums), LJ Harness (percussion), Steve Gerard & Jay Boyer (Keys/Synthesizer), Ines Zak & Jessie Thompson (backup vocals), new addition Chris Clermont (electric/acoustic guitar) the return of Daryl Slade (bass guitar)
