# Event Details

- **Event Name**: Creating & Planting an Avocado Orchard
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 03 May, 2026 at 10:00 am (-07:00)
- **Event Description**: Please join SCSC and Stephanie Watson at her homestead on Lampa Lane, for an educational working bee, where we will discuss how to start a micro-orchard. Attendees will get hands-on experience planting 30 fruit trees (mainly avocado and citrus), followed by a light lunch and mingle. Stephanie will be providing Homemade Pizza and Salads so feel free to bring a side dish or dessert if the spirit moves you.

PLEASE NOTE, the holes have been pre-dug with an auger several months ago, but some additional shaping of the planting holes with a shovel, and application of mulch is forecasted. All fitness and ability levels are welcome. You do not need to plant if you just want to learn. The orchard site is on a slope, and requires you to walk up 7 stairs, but you can observe everything from the mostly flat main driveway if you have any physical challenges. A bathroom is available on site but requires access via stairs.

**********Important Info**********************************

PLEASE NOTE: There are 4 free roaming Huskies on Stephanie’s property. They are not aggressive but they actively sniff and vet new people, so please just allow them to say a doggie hello, and then they’ll move on. Once you settle in, they will also. Please don’t be alarmed if they bark, they simply alert on new visitor arrivals.

10:00 - 10:30 - Introduction, background, and explanation of the Great Science Experiment
