?‍?Our resident expert Carrie will be going over topics including:?‍?

- Pest identification: life stages, morphology, phenology, markings, color, shape, size
- Plant symptoms and patterns of injury 
- Particular pests (aphids, thrips, squash bugs) their life cycles, hosts, preferred environment (temperature, water, light)
- Categories of pest management approaches: prevention, suppression, elimination, eradication
- Cultural methods and non-synthetic treatments (companion planting, insectaries, trap cropping, banker crops)
- Profiles of a few insectary plants, perennials and annuals
- Natural enemies: predators and parasitoids (parasitic wasp, lady beetle, aphid midge, lacewing, minute pirate bug, predatory nematode) 
- Physical barriers (e.g. netting, kaolin clay)
- Resistance management 
- Insects as vectors for disease

We will also sow seeds of a few insectary plants and companions.
