The daughter of the renowned blues artist Eddie Taylor Sr. and the gifted vocalist Vera Taylor, Demetria's childhood was steeped in the rich traditions of the blues.Demetria's passion for blues was nurtured by the soulful melodies of Etta James, Bessie Smith, Big Mama Thornton, and the inimitable Koko Taylor (no relation). Her powerful and versatile vocals could effortlessly transform any space into a realm of raw emotion, from bringing down the house to summoning celestial serenity.In August 2022, Demetria's contributions to blues were recognized with the Jus' Blues Foundation's Koko Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award.Opening for Demetria Taylor is Asamu Johnson and the Associates of Blues out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Stages have been built across this country to showcase the beautiful art form of the Blues. When Asamu Johnson and The Associates of The Blues step on one, they uplift the rich enduring heritage of the Blues and the hearts and spirits of everyone listening. They've had all eyes and ears on them at venues and events across the nation.Local performer Christopher Dragone will open the evening as guests arrive with his brand of guitar playing and musical storytelling.Proceeds of the show will benefit the Killer Blues Headstone Project as well as to support continued blues concerts in the future.Seating is General Admission/Open Seating.
