Credit to Lisa Wilson with a great explanation about SANCTIONING a breed for a show.
Q: Can I show my breed if it isn't sanctioned?
A: Yes! All recognized ARBA can be shows and do not have to be sanctioned with the national breed club.
Q: So why would you pay extra to sanction a breed with the national breed club?
A: National club for that breed gets a sanction for a show, the send numbers to the secretary. After the show the secretary sends them a report of who showed and how the placed and how many points they earned. National club keeps up with members points for the year and has awards based on points.
Q: What if I don't belong to the national club for my breed?
A: First I would say join it! Second if you are not a member there is no reason for you to sanction your breed for points.
Q: Can I earn awards and ARBA legs if my breed isn't sanctioned with the National Club?
A: Yes sanctioning with the national club has nothing to do with a rabbit winning legs! Those are ARBA rules to follow to earn legs. (Note the show must be ARBA sanctioned to earn legs)
Q: How do I know how much it costs to sanction my breed with the national club?
A: go to your national clubs web page and find the sanction form, on this form it tells you how much each show costs: Example: Flemish giants are 10.00 per show for open and 8.00 per show for youth. Or 15.00 per combo of youth and open.
SO our show is a single friday night and triple saturday: To sanction flemish for friday night in open is 10.00 then saturday with 3 shows is 30.00 more so total is 40.00
Q: Who pulls the sanctions?
A: Normally the club secretary (Note not the show secretary the club secretary) Most clubs will handle the sanctions and send them in 30 days before the show.
Please see the discussion for updated information.
