about the venue
Peake 4WD Park (often referred to as Peake-Talinga Downs) is a popular South Australian off-road destination known for its extensive, challenging sand driving, dunes, and scrub terrain. Located near the Mallee Highway, about 2 hours from Adelaide, it is a premier spot for sand driving practice and training, with many visitors visiting for day trips or weekends.
Location: The site is located at Talinga Downs, 210 Stirling Well Road, Peake, SA 5301.
Terrain: The area offers a variety of 4WD tracks ranging from moderate to difficult, heavily focused on sand driving, dunes, and, in some areas, clay-based terrain.
Access & Facilities: The area is mainly used for recreational 4WDing, including organised trips by clubs. It is generally a self-contained area, meaning visitors should come prepared with their own supplies, recovery gear, and, in some cases, camping equipment.
Nearby Accommodation: While the area is for 4WDing, basic accommodation and, in some cases, camping, may be available, with the nearest town of Peake having limited facilities.
