- **Event Description**: Many filmmakers from marginalized groups seek to move away from narratives focused solely on trauma, the pressure to come out, tokenism, or the notion that "one character represents everyone". Particularly within queer cinema today, the question arises: Do we still want to fight merely for visibility – or has this struggle long since become more complex?

A queer film award – such as the QMS Award – honors not only visibility but also, invariably, specific conceptions of what diverse storytelling ought to look like. It speaks to which narrative forms are deemed relevant.
For this reason, our panel discussion accompanying the QMS Award ceremony will address, among other topics, the following questions: What forms of diverse storytelling do we currently need? How incidental can queer characters and storylines be without becoming politically invisible? Or, conversely, how political must we be once again – especially today?
