- **Event Description**: We are very excited to announce:  OPEN REGISTRATIONS for the 1st MUNCIE, INDIANA CHAPTER of WESTBROOK CHESS CLUB!  

Parents we know summer months are usually filled with basketball, sporting events, and field trips- yet we are searching for unique Youth ages 8-14 & 15-18 (separate club) to join a prestige MIND SPORT called CHESS.

Westbrook Chess Club is proud to provide youth with a positive, educational, and empowering environment this summer, where students can develop critical thinking, leadership skills, confidence, discipline, and academic focus through the game of chess. 

While chess is often viewed simply as a game, research and experience consistently show that it strengthens critical thinking, concentration, problem-solving skills, patience, discipline, confidence, and academic performance. 

We have proven over and over that it drastically changes our youth's attitudes, and behaviors for the better!

Through our program, students receive:
• Structured chess instruction for beginners and advanced learners
• Social-emotional learning and leadership development for real life
• Team-building and healthy competition experiences
• Academic skill reinforcement through strategic thinking
• Positive mentorship in a safe and encouraging environment

****Westbrook Chess Club is also committed to accessibility for families and students from underserved communities through scholarships and sponsorship support whenever possible.****
