About the event

Why your immune system doesn't attack you?
Your immune system fights off germs and keeps you healthy. But how does it know not to attack your own body? The year's Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded for the discovery of a special group of cells called regulatory T cells, and a gene named FOXP3, that makes these cells act like peacekeepers inside us preventing the immune system from attacking own body. This talk will take you on a journey through this amazing discovery—how it helps people with autoimmune diseases, how it’s changing cancer treatment, and how it shows the beauty of balance in biology.
