For a city that’s always marched to its own beat.
MMW is a tightly curated ‘festival’ designed to celebrate the vast music culture of a metropolis that’s allowed it to thrive. Over the course of 4 vibrant January days and nights, we’re threading all the bits and pieces of the music ecosystem together; because the truth is no other community of creators and supporters have influenced so many creative uprisings in its wake.
From the psychedelic rock movement of the ‘60s/‘70s and the Bollywood-tinged Disco icons of the ‘80s to the bass-fuelled underground raves of the late ‘90s and the current explosion of independent electronica we're witnessing. From the smooth notes of a saxophone wafting out of modern jazz clubs, to the vibrant, brassy sounds of our local Kohli community's music playing right on our streets. We’re making room for genres and sonic subcultures to co-exist like never before. Between the combined spaces we’re bringing to life—both public and private—the festival will be accessible to all too.
Explore a wide variety of dynamic workshops, exhibitions, curated tours, panels, pop-ups, performances and parties that will integrate elements of Indian subcultures, art, innovation, music, education and more into its themes. Then join us on a mission that’s much bigger than a long overdue celebration.
At MMW, the dream is to let the Past, Present and Future of music converge with you to shape where this culture goes next. We’re asking big questions, and answering some too. We'll point out some gaps, and bridge a few too. Can we make music venues more accessible to everyone? How do we enrich the experiences of our artists and audiences? What if we reimagined the spaces in which melodies reign? Does music have the potential to unite communities with differences? And do we fully comprehend how rich our musical history really is or do enough to keep it alive?
Ultimately, this project is part homage, part hope.
We’re just laying the soil for greater things to take root in a city that’s allowed us all to
dream big,love hard,
and dance so many troubles away.
