Monsoon Walk to Malad trail
1st July 2018, Sunday
With the monsoon showers already here, SGNP is undergoing a transformation. The bare ground is sprouting all kinds of green plants. Various short-lived lilies and herbs have announced their arrival and the entire ground will be covered with them. In accordance with the plant life, insects, spiders, frogs, reptiles, birds etc. will be in full force. Join SGNP naturalists as they lead you along the Malad trail.
This trail runs along the western edge of the park and is dotted with varied vegetation beginning with dry-deciduous (Teak, Red Silk Cotton, Palash, Laburnum tree, Bamboo thickets, to name a few) and gradually gives way to evergreen growth. Another gentle trail ambles along to an artificial waterhole. Walk along further and the conflict between forest and this ever-expanding city is strikingly apparent.
