About the Fundraiser
We at Color Positive humbly request you to donate a minimum of INR 500/- in support of our new play "JEENA - 2" that we will showcase.
Our first part of the play was performed in 2017 and this is a sequel. That play, Jeena 1 is available on our channel at
for you to view (Not made public)
The premise of our play centers around social barriers and stigma surrounding the LGBTQIA community in India. It focuses on homosexual individuals forced to succumb to parental and societal pressure by trapping themselves in heterosexual marriages. What inspired you to do this?
This play was inspired by the need to draw attention to the harsh reality and detrimental effects of compelling LGBTQIA individuals to live a life under pressure while living with Sec #377 and how it ruins lives. Yes, Sec #377 is gone... but what about the concerns that are still a problem to the community. How many such individuals succumb to marry against their will, just to satisfy social demands. These marriages eventually snowball into much larger social issues: depression, suicide, marital rape, domestic violence, divorce, abandoned children and overall broken homes. We touch base with women-rights, LGBT rights in our play Sex Objects. We also talk about HIV and other concerns in society. All this, while making sure you are laughing on the right note.
The play is been hosted as a free event under another banner so we can reach our audience. Even though the stage is set for us, the costs of everything else than happens backstage is our challenge and for that we need help. Our concern being TRAVEL cost.
We need funding for mounting production costs like arrangements for sound, lights, video recording, photography, advertising our play, costumes and other behind the scenes management.
How will the funds be used?
Although our cast and crew work on a pro-bono basis, the money we raise will be used for production costs like travel mainly, costumes, lighting, sound, travel and food and other required incidentals.
What are the Risk and Challenges?
Our goal is to reach an audience that will understand the complexities of living as an LGBT person with #377 lifted and yet concerns that need to shape the society.
The risk involved is not being able to perform our play if we fail to raise the required funds. The funds requested will help to a large extent in sustaining our cast and crew throughout rehearsals and especially making our final performance possible.
