The Elephanta Festival is held every year in February on Elephanta Island. It is a two-day extravaganza of dance, drama and music. It always begins with a rendition of the local dance performed by the Koli fishermen community.

    The Mumbai International Film Festival is the oldest film festival for non-feature films in South Asia. It was established in 1990 and continues to draw participants from countries around the world.     The Kala Ghoda Festival is a nine-day festival usually held in February. IIT Bombay organizes Asia’s largest college festival with Mood Indigo. The festival was established in 1971 and today organizes a large concert with some of the best artists. It also organizes competitions for students in dramatics, music, dance, literary arts, speaking arts, fine arts, visual arts, journalism, and film. Other college festivals in Mumbai include Malhar festival and Kshitij Mithibai.
