Sankha Banerjee, the illustrator will focus on how to read or create sequential art as he takes you through his steps of creating comics. He will be discussing some basic principles of comic art and how through Static pictures one can create dynamic narrations. Some fundamental elements of comics like 'space' and 'line of action' will be discussed using proper visual examples.
It will be a fun and interactive session for the general comic fans and as well as for aspiring comic artists.
About Sankha Banerjee:
Sankha Banerjee works in various art mediums, such as installations, art books and graphic novels. He has illustrated a number of graphic novels and stories, many of which relate to the Mahabharata and Indian myths. The 2011 English graphic novel on Nelson Mandela—translated into French as Mandela, Une vie au service de la liberté in 2014—illustrated by him received the Best Graphic Novel Award from Comic Con India, New Delhi, in 2012.
He has held a number of solo exhibitions, the latest being at India International Centre in 2017. Currently he is assistant professor at the Department of Art and Multimedia, St Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He was formerly illustrator with Thomson Digital (a division of Thomson Press India Ltd), Delhi.

About The Writer:
Sibaji Bandyopadhyay writes poetry, plays, stories, novels and film scripts in Bengali, and essays in Bengali and English. Some of his recent books include Three Essays on the Mahābhārata: Exercises in Literary Hermeneutics, Sibaji Bandyopadhyay Rachanasamagra and Sibaji Bandyopadhyay Reader.
He is the recipient of the Government of West Bengal’s Vidyasagar Memorial Award (2010) for lifetime achievement in the sphere of Bengali prose, the Sisir Kumar Das Memorial Award (2010) for contributions to Bengali literature, and the Buddhadeva Bose Memorial Award (2016) for contributions to the arena of Bengali and English essays.
He was formerly professor of cultural studies at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences Calcutta (CSSSC) and professor of comparative literature at Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
