# Event Details - **Event Name**: Maryland Wear and Carry April 18th & 19th (Sat & Sun) - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 18 Apr, 2026 at 12:00 pm – Sun, 19 Apr, 2026 at 06:00 pm (-04:00) - **Event Description**: This course was designed to not only fulfill, but exceed Maryland’s requirements for a Wear and Carry Permit, also known as a HGP or Concealed Carry. This course is hosted in the center of the four counties, in Mt. Airy, Maryland. ------------------------------- Renewals will only attend day 2. ------------------------------- Day 1 requires no firearm, while Day 2 requires a firearm and ammunition for live fire. We train rain or shine, sleet or snow. ------------------------------- Maryland requires 16 hours of training with a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor, covering specific topics including instruction on state firearm law, home firearm safety, handgun mechanisms and operation, and a live fire practical. Maryland has added more requirements including conflict de-escalation and resolution, anger management, and suicide prevention. Our course also includes topics such as non-lethal, situational awareness, firearm selection, handling techniques and manipulations, stop the bleed, use of force, and suggested equipment and accessories as well as purpose. Maryland requires that the student demonstrates safe gun handling, and a shooting proficiency score over 70%. -------------------------------- Ryan and Wayne have been teaching this course together since 2018 and have since continued to tune and enhance the materials presented to students. We keep our class sizes appropriate to ensure the students connect to the material, and we keep our instructor to student ratio low. We have guest instructors and range safety officers for any class over 12 students. --------------------------------- The Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) is required to purchase a handgun in the state of Maryland, and this license can be attained post approval of Wear and Carry for free. This class supersedes the training requirements of the HQL’s 4 hours and material coverage. We also discuss working through your 4473 and 77R applications to help streamline the process. --------------------------------- While we do not certify for other states, we include a nationally recognized certificate that can be used for the application with other states and their permits. We like to focus on Maryland law, as it can be quite extensive in some cases. Post class, students can expect to have a broader knowledge base, physical materials, digital materials, and access to the instructors for further consulting. We are here for our students, not just during, but after the application process as well. We also offer private group and individual programs for the Wear and Carry. These are much more exclusive and intimate, and can be accommodating for high risk, public officials, disabled, or even the newborn mother. More details can be acquired by inquiring.
