In May of 2025, 12-year-old Melaina Gottschalk’s life changed forever. Out of nowhere, she was diagnosed with sudden onset Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. What began as occasional seizures has quickly progressed, and Melaina’s condition is worsening.
Just months ago, Melaina was a happy, active elementary school volleyball player who loved being with her friends and teammates. Now, her days are filled with fear and uncertainty, as seizures strike without warning and leave her exhausted.
To help manage these seizures, Melaina needs special rescue inhalers that can stop the episodes once they begin. Unfortunately, these inhalers cost $2,000 each out of pocket, placing a crushing financial burden on the family.
Her doctors also believe that a seizure-alert dog could change her life. These incredible service dogs are trained to sense seizures before they happen, giving Melaina and her family precious moments to prepare and keep her safe. The cost, however, is overwhelming — $20,000.

The Gottschalk family is doing everything they can, but they should not have to face this alone. We are asking their community, friends, and kind strangers for support to:

Help fund a seizure-alert dog that could give her freedom, safety, and peace of mind.  Join us for meat raffles, bucket raffles and other games to raise money.
