- **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 14 Jun, 2026 at 10:00 am – Sun, 14 Jun, 2026 at 01:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Thriving through Injustice is a practical (in-person) workshop, organized by the Canadian Muslim Forum (FMC-CMF) and presented to you by Mariyam Zaidi - MSW, RSW CEO of Hope4Therapy and Consultant.

About the workshop:

In times of political and social tension, conversations about gratitude and optimism can feel complicated. This workshop is not about ignoring injustice or pretending difficult realities do not exist. Instead, it explores how gratitude and optimism can become grounding tools that help us remain emotionally regulated, connected to ourselves, and engaged with our communities without losing hope.

Through a blend of reflection, discussion, and practical strategies, participants will explore the emotional impact of collective stress, uncertainty, and injustice — particularly within the current social and political climate in Montreal. Together, we will examine how gratitude can support meaning-making, how optimism can exist alongside grief and frustration, and how we can continue showing up for ourselves and others in sustainable ways.

This workshop will also incorporate gentle reflection and nervous-system awareness to help participants better understand how stress and overwhelm live in the body, while offering realistic practices that foster resilience, clarity, and emotional balance.

Mariyam Zaidi is a Registered Social Worker, psychotherapist, speaker, and consultant based in Ontario. She is the founder and Clinical Director of HOPE Psychotherapy & Consulting, where she works with individuals, families, organizations, and communities through a lens grounded in communication, psychological safety, and meaningful connection.

With experience spanning clinical mental health, leadership development, and community-based work, Mariyam is passionate about creating spaces where people can speak honestly about what they are carrying — both personally and collectively. Her work often explores the intersection of emotional wellbeing, identity, systems, and the ways people learn to navigate difficult conversations and environments.

Known for her relatable and reflective speaking style, Mariyam brings together practical insight, compassion, and real-world experience to help audiences move beyond survival mode and toward intentional, grounded living.
