The screening will be followed by a discussion with his son, Elisha Wiesel, who continues to uphold his father’s humanitarian legacy through his work as Chairman of the Board at the Elie Wiesel Foundation.

Eighty years after his liberation from Buchenwald, we seek to understand the man behind Elie Wiesel's searing and widely read memoir Night. Told largely through his own words and eloquent voice, Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire penetrates to the heart of the known and unknown Elie Wiesel (1928-2016)—his passions, his conflicts and his legacy as one of the most public survivors of the Holocaust. With unique access to personal archives, original interviews and employing hand-painted animation, the film illuminates Wiesel’s biography as a survivor, writer, teacher, public figure and Nobel Peace Prize winner.

À l’occasion de la Journée internationale dédiée à la mémoire des victimes de l’Holocauste, joignez-vous à nous le 25 janvier à 17 h pour la première montréalaise du documentaire Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire. La projection sera suivie d’une discussion avec son fils, Elisha Wiesel, qui perpétue l’héritage humanitaire de son père dans son rôle de président du conseil d’administration de la Fondation Elie Wiesel.

Quatre-vingts ans après sa libération de Buchenwald, nous cherchons à comprendre l’homme derrière le récit poignant et largement diffusé, Night. Raconté en grande partie à travers les propres mots et la voix éloquente d’Elie Wiesel, Elie Wiesel: Soul on Fire pénètre au cœur de l’homme public et privé (1928-2016), ses passions, ses conflits et son héritage en tant que l’un des survivants de la Shoah les plus connus. Grâce à un accès unique à des archives personnelles, à des entretiens originaux et à l’utilisation d’animations peintes à la main, le film éclaire la biographie de Wiesel en tant que survivant, écrivain, professeur, figure publique et lauréat du prix Nobel de la paix.
