Vendredi prochain, nous aurons le plaisir d’accueillir l’artiste Dominic Lafontaine et son installation multimédia ENCRE ROUGE/RED INK. Rejoignez-nous pour la soirée d’ouverture de cette exposition qui expose le phénomène du Fauxtochtone : le non-autochtone qui se présente comme autochtone.

L’œuvre raconte l’histoire du Conseil de la Fédération des Premières Nations (CFPN), une organisation fictive créée via l’intelligence artificielle. Le spectateur est invité à revivre une journée cruciale de l’histoire du CFPN en visitant le lieu de son siège social, où l’organisation fabrique ses cartes d’identité.

Next Friday, we are pleased to welcome artist Dominic Lafontaine and his multimedia installation RED INK/ENCRE ROUGE. Join us for the opening reception of this exhibition exposing the phenomenon of the Pretendian—non-Indigenous individuals who falsely present themselves as Indigenous.

The work tells the story of the Federation of First Nations Council (FFNC), a fictitious organization created using artificial intelligence. Viewers are invited to relive a pivotal day in the FFNC’s history by visiting its headquarters, where the organization produces its identity cards.
