About the Artist:
Judy began painting in 1990 with Houston artist, Lindy Daly.  (now deceased) Lindy was instrumental in introducing Judy and many other artists to the love and passion of painting.  Once a week, Lindy held classes in her small studio in the Heights in Houston and Judy traveled from Spring, Tx when her two youngest children were in preschool to attend.  During those 3 years, Judy became proficient-and interested in pursuing art as a career seriously instead of continuing her education in social work.  By the time her young children were in school full time, she had rented studio space so that she could paint and began teaching children herself.  Taking off summers to be with her children, she began painting again each September and has continued until today.  After 3 years with Lindy, Judy began taking workshops and classes with other well know oil painters.  The late Charles Sovek, Kevin McPherson, Ted Goerschner, Daniel Gerhartz and Tom Browning were the artists that were the most influential in the journey to become the best painter she could be.  She also attributes the support of family to her success as an artist.  Over 30 years later, Judy is as passionate as ever about her work.  She hopes to paint as long as possible.​​​​​​​

" I love the work of the Old Masters, but the Impressionist painters are the painters I most admire for their vibrant use of color and individual brushwork.  I strive to achieve a feeling of a place and time rather than a photo realistic approach. My hope is to speak to the viewer, to his or her heart. Painting the beauty of color is my goal. It's my feeling that our world needs beauty and peace and I hope to convey those moments in my work via a simple statement while honoring God and His gifts through an accurate representation of our natural world."
