- **Event Description**: Fun, creative and educational | Environmentally conscious photography experience for families - followed by a RAW, honest family portrait.About this EventAs part of the BLUE SPARKS initiative, we are inviting families to join our coastal series of workshops, and explore the wonders of seaweed and coastal stories, followed by unique FAMILY PORTRAIT with the sea as a backdrop. It's a playful and hands-on experience where families, photography and the sea come together.Set across coastal locations around Plymouth, each session creates a space where families can connect with one another, their surroundings, and the photographic process itself.THE COSATLINE BECOMES A (not so quiet) QUIET FACILITATOR, and the camera becomes a tool for: connection, reflection and expression. Children often lead without knowing they are leading, Adults often rediscover without expecting to - we introduce photography not as a technical skilss, but as a language of attention. A way of asking: what do you see ? what matters here ? how do we hold this moment together ?WHAT WILL WE DO?We will explore the coastline together - noticing textures, collecting bits and piece, sharing stories and ideas. We will be exploring handmade pinhole cameras from recycled materials, experiment with analogue photography in its rawest form, we will step inside a portable darkroom by the sea, we will watch images appear through a seaweed-based developer and we will follow curiosity, not instructions.THE FAMILY PORTRAIT is not the goal. It is a trace, a result of time spent together >> at some point, without forcing anything - we will create your family portrait by the sea. Natural and relaxed. A little bit windswept, maybe. A photograph that feels like you.[this work draws from socially engaged photography and phototherapy-informed practice, where the image is not only seen, but felt, experienced, and co-created.]WHO IS IT FOR ?For families in all shapes and forms. No age limit. No experience needed.LOCATIONWe mee across different coastal locations around Plymouth:Firestone Bay, near the tidal pool (Devil's Point) - 21st March 2pm-4pmWembury Marine Centre/beach - 28th March 2pm-4pmMount Batten Beach - 4th April 2pm- 4pmPLEASE CHECK carefully which location you are booking.>> we will be close to the shoreline with our portable darkroom setup - easy to spot.IMPORTANT BOOKING INFORMATIONWhile reserving your space, please specify the number of participants including childrenChildren must be accompanied by an adult all the times. All materials provided. Please dress for the weather (wind, sand, sea - all part of experience).WHY we do thisBeacuse family time matters. Better understanding of the reality allows us to reinterpret the world in our own, sometimes surreal and abstract form. For us, camera is like a window to the new unexplored world, where we can focus on things which in the real world can be easily overlooked. We are inspired by natural light to create a contrast, constructive aesthetics, which combine a true value of experience and evokes something between a dream and an obliterated memory."
