Sterling Edwards is an internationally renowned watermedia master, instructor, and author. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, he has been a resident of North Carolina since 1973. Following a twenty-year career in Law Enforcement and Fire Fighting, Sterling began a second career in 1993 to pursue his passion for painting as a creative and interpretive artist. Having studied art since the age of twelve, he developed a unique and expressive style of painting that has since gained international acclaim and the admiration of his peers, students, art collectors, and designers.
Sterling is the author of the best-selling North Light book, “Creating Luminous Watercolor Landscapes, a Four Step Process” published in 2010 and is a featured artist in several other books and international publications. His award winning watermedia paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide. He works from his home studio in the beautiful town of Lewisville, North Carolina.
About the Class
This will be a watercolor workshop that will focus on creating expressive stylized and abstract works of art. There will be a wide variety of watercolor techniques explained and demonstrated throughout the week including, building a strong composition, working with large brushes including stiff bristle brushes, creative color mixing, creative design, saving select areas of white paper, negative painting, charging and glazing colors, and so much more. This workshop is intended for ALL SKILL LEVELS of watercolor artists.
