We plan to drive among the hatchery pools, especially the drained and muddy ones searching for shorebirds.  We may also take a brief walk in the woods in the back looking for fall migrants.

Target Species: Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, American Golden-plover, Semipalmated Plover, Short-billed Dowitcher, Sanderling, American Pipit and whatever shorebirds we can find!

Terrain: Easy. Mostly level or mildly sloping roadways and grass.

Pace: Slow to moderate.

Distance: Light walking on levees near hatchery cells. About 1 mile if we hike around the back of the oxbow.

Restrooms: No restrooms are available at the hatchery. Stop at the Shell station at the corner of Hyw 60 and Montana before you arrive.
