Ideal for: beginner climbers, those who have never climbed on rock and those with limited experience of climbing indoors.

A Rock Skills Introduction course is all about having a go and experiencing rock climbing for the first time. It can feel very unfamiliar, even for people who have climbed indoors, so our course providers (the people who deliver the courses) are experts at supporting people to move at their own pace. There will also be plenty of opportunities to get to know the other people on the course as you share new experiences at the crag.

The focus can provide a welcome break from life’s other distractions and a Rock Skills Introduction is a great way to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of climbing on rock.

 

Learn essential skills
There are several essential skills involved in rock climbing safely and they will be the focus of every Rock Skills Introduction course. The harness, the rope, the belay device and karabiner allow climbers to keep themselves and others safe when used correctly which is why it’s so important to learn how the system works and how to check each other before leaving the ground.
