Styles run from comedy to tragedy and there’s never a dull moment. *Not recommended for young audiences due to Mature Content and Language Information on the individual One Acts: 24 Hours at the Montessori Manor (Gone Wrong) by Carter Garcia is a fast-paced, satirical comedy that follows two wannabe ghost hunting YouTubers and their poor, unpaid intern, as they fake a paranormal encounter inside the notoriously haunted Montessori Manor. Though, things quickly begin to go downhill as the three discover they’ve awoken the very real, very angry spirit haunting the place. Director Carter Garcia and Assistant Director Noah Cohen have been working closely with the utterly hilarious, powerhouse cast of Evelyn Adams (Aaron), Robin Rebbe (Alex), Shylah Burns (Kenny), Ashley Calles and Emma Martin (Eveline) to tell a story that will not only have the audience in stitches, but just maybe, send a chill up their spines the next time they realize they’re alone in a dark room. Affectionately Mine tells the 1945 story of an overworked psychologist, Dr. Hendrix, losing it all while also combating his growing feelings for his right-hand assistant, Aradeene Langley, in this romantic-filled drama period piece. Featuring: Earnest Roberts, Juno Hernandez, Charles Jackson, and Carly Troilo The Lesser-Known Greek Myths, or; An Ode to Hermes by Artimis Ott is a story of a lesser-known Greek hero. When Zeus (Finn Schwartz) decides to put on the story of Hercules, Hermes (Brandon Torres) crashes the show. He decides to tell a different story to prove to Zeus he can take on the mantle of running the theatre of the gods. With the help of the Players (Gaten Loeva, Lucas Viola and Aimee Rodriguez) he tells the story of Perseus. Of course, changing the story at the last minute isn’t always the best idea . . . In Focus by Dan Lisi is a one act that follows Leo as he struggles with what to do after high school. It also explores the relationship he has with his grandfather Aldo, his father Mike, his mother Alice, and his sister Andrea. This story is one that many young people heading into the next chapter of their lives can relate to and I hope that they will be able to see their own struggles reflected in Leo’s. This is a story that I hope will encourage people to reach out to those they love as a pillar of support. I also hope that it can inspire people to reach out to their loved ones when they themselves need help and support and can help people realize that it’s okay to not be okay. Let’s Circle Back by Wesley R. Umali is a one-act play that explores the concept of technology in the workplace and what ifs of the future. The story follows an interviewee, Sam (Lauren Ptolemy), a young girl in need of money. Interviewing for a job. In the interview, Sam meets Erin (Catelin Flores), unknowing to Sam at the time, Erin is a highly intelligent robot. The interview is for a fast-food chain, ‘Burger Palace.’ The interview is seemingly normal until a pickle causes Erin to malfunction; the malfunction happens at a build with questions and actions becoming more and more outlandish. At the height of the show, Burger Palace manager Carl (Emi Fujii) is introduced and remedies the disaster that had just ensued. This short play is a comedic spectacular that shows a dramatized version of the potential risks of using artificial intelligence to do everyday jobs. Bubbles by Amanda Desoto is a one act drama about a girl, Ruby, and her mother, Coral, navigating grief and loss felt from the passing of Ruby’s father. By confiding in her new goldfish, Ruby is able to cope with her loss and perhaps learn what it means to be a good friend. “Bubbles” depicts an optimistic world; despite the pain we may feel by living within it – it’s a heartfelt tale you won’t want to miss. Featuring: Name Knepper, Cianna Wilkins, Dalana Green Bananoscopy by J. Pizzo Brewer is a one act comedy about a grave medical concern – Brandon’s banana has developed a worrisome spot! As he seeks out medical advice from Doctor Carmen Fiumicino, the two can’t help but discuss various topics, from history to philosophy, as Carmen attempts to learn what’s wrong with Brandon, mentally or otherwise. This is a banter-filled blast you won’t want to miss! Featuring: Finn Schwartz, Willow Sutton-Coats Coasting By a one-act play written by Maysha Mohamedi, follows two teenage girls named Maude (Mo Gordon) and Danny (Lauren Ptolemy), who meet in their hidden spot beneath a roller coaster after time apart. Through their reminiscing and catching up, they come to the realization that while they have been so close through the years, their paths are growing apart in ways that neither can control. Danny is taking the steps to attend university, forging a career and taking accountability for her life. Maude, however, is wanting to keep the ties to their pasts connected, hoping life will simply stumble and work its way into her favor.
