The West Central Food Council invites you to our Summer 2025 Farm Buds-style event: a special day of connection, community, and giving back. Hosted at Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley, this volunteer gathering is designed to bring people together through service, storytelling, and shared meals. This event is more than just a day on the farm—it’s a celebration of connection, community, and the power of local food systems. If you're someone who wants to make a difference, this event is for you!
About the Farm:
Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley - our mission is “transforming disabilities into abilities” through purposeful work and life experiences in a community farm setting. We work closely with local families and agencies to connect individuals with purposeful work that fills their spirits, sharpens their minds, and cultivates joy. At the farm, our employees find space to discover their abilities and explore their passions.

Farm Buds is a program that brings people together to volunteer on farms, learn about agriculture, and build community through shared work and meals.
Info: Matt and Mason from Farm Buds kicks off the day with an inspiring welcoming, sharing the vision behind this community-driven initiative. Anna will introduce Farm in the Dell, giving you a glimpse into the farm’s mission and its role in supporting local agriculture.
Info: Work alongside Farm in the Dell farmers on projects tailored to the season. From planting and harvesting to tending crops or preparing the fields, this will be an opportunity to connect with the land and get a taste of the work that our farmers do to supply our local food systems. These tasks are designed to teach you about sustainable farming while fostering a deep connection to the land and people.
Info: Gather for a hearty, locally focused meal prepared by Indigenous chef Candace Stock. As you eat, Candace will share stories about the cultural and historical significance of the ingredients, highlighting the importance of Indigenous foodways and local food systems. Wrap up the day with a group reflection, celebrating the connections made and the impact of your volunteer efforts.
