Join Concordia University in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada, Feminist Media Studio and Dark Opacities Lab for a special screening of The Nest, voted a Top 20 Audience film at the 2025 Hot Docs International Film Festival.
The screening will be followed by a talkback with the film’s co-director and writer Julietta Singh in conversation with Dr. Krista Lynes and Dr. Balbir K. Singh.
About The Film
At the end of her mother’s life, decolonial writer Julietta Singh returns to Winnipeg to say goodbye to her childhood home. As she digs into the history of the house, she uncovers 140 years of forgotten matriarchs and political histories she never knew. In this genre-defying cross-community collaboration, a single home is transformed from a place of siloed stories into a site of radical potential.
The film will be shown with open captions, and live ASL-English interpretation will be provided for the talkback portion.
Tickets are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
