About the bands:

𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 moves across genres through its original interpretation of traditional music from around the world. Featuring Laetitia Francoz-Lévesque on violin and voice, Joshua Greenberg on oud and guitar, and Hugo Tremblay on cello and kanjira, the trio explores repertoires encountered throughout their travels and musical paths—from the Middle East and Eastern Europe to Québécois and French traditions, balfolk, as well as original compositions.

𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐤 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐝 is a fiery five-piece Balkan brass band that has been performing on the stages and streets of Montreal since 2018. With saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tapan, and tuba, the group brings high-energy interpretations of traditional dance music from Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, North Macedonia, and Albania.

Rooted in the folk traditions of the Southern Balkans, their sound is rhythmic, raw, and shaped by the living traditions of these distinctive regions—music meant for dancing, gathering, and festivity. Sumak Brass Band transports listeners straight into the heart of Balkan celebrations, where brass lines intertwine, ornamented phrases hint at microtonal modes, and the pulse of the tapan keeps feet in motion.

𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 traverse les genres avec son interprétation originale de diverses musiques traditionnelles d’à travers le monde. Formé de Laetitia Francoz-Lévesque au violon et à la voix, de Joshua Greenberg au oud et à la guitare et de Hugo Tremblay au violoncelle et au kanjira, ils explorent des répertoires qu’ils ont rencontré au fil de leurs voyages et carrières musicales : de la musique du Moyen-Orient et de l’Europe de l’Est, du traditionnel québécois et français, du balfolk ainsi que quelques compositions. 

𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐤 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐝 est une fanfare balkanique enflammée qui se produisent sur les scènes et dans les rues de Montréal depuis 2018. Avec saxophone, trompette, trombone, tapan et tuba, le groupe propose des interprétations dynamiques de la musique traditionnelle de danse en provenance de la Bulgarie, de la Turquie, de la Grèce, de la Macédoine du Nord et de l'Albanie.

Ancrée dans les traditions folkloriques des Balkans du Sud, leur son est rythmique, brut et façonné par les traditions vivantes de ces régions distinctes — une musique destinée à la danse, aux rassemblements et à la fête. Sumak Brass Band transporte son audience directement au cœur des célébrations balkaniques, où les lignes de cuivres s’entrelacent, les phrases ornementées évoquent des modes microtonaux, et le rythme du tapan garde les pieds en mouvement.
