Dance and movement are at the heart of this collective experience. Through Brazilian rhythms and traditional music, we will explore movement, the voice, and small percussion instruments in a playful, creative, and welcoming space. October 18 — Gitanjali Jain

Vocal River Creative Expansion is an invitation to explore the voice and body as a means of creative expression and expansion through the joy and exhilaration of delving into the unknown. Inspired by Rhiannon’s Vocal River forms, we will play with the voice as an instrument, the body as an extension of the voice, and other fun aspects of self-expression and deep connection. Some Circlesinging might happen as well.

October 25 — Geremia
Body Music and Improvisation / Body Music et improvisation

Ready to challenge your coordination, play with rhythm, and dive into the world of improvisation? You're in the right place! Using nothing but our bodies and voices, we'll explore rhythms from around the world, learn grooves, and turn them into playful musical adventures. We'll move between learning and improvising, following rhythms together and creating new ones along the way. Expect movement, laughter, listening, and lots of music! Words will sometimes take a back seat as we connect through rhythm, gesture, eye contact, and mutual support. Come ready to play, explore, and make music together!

November 8 — moe clark (miyosoma somatic healing arts)
voice as living landscape:

through this earth-centred workshop, we deepen into embodied resonance and emergent voice as the interstitial tissue that holds together our belonging.
guided by nêhiyaw, michif and tastawayihk (in-between) principles, we move through deep listening, vocal improvisation practices, circle singing, and playful explorations, to examine our relationships to sound and song as living landscapes.
in smaller ensembles and the larger circle, we work with images and poetic prompts to create reciprocal sounds that transform across bodies, timelines and dimensions.

Facilitator Bios / Bios des facilitateur·ices

Sophie Bijjani

EN Sophie Bijjani brings improvisation into everything she does: singing, dancing, making music. She trained first in jazz voice before being swept up by vocal improvisation. After completing an advanced Circlesong training in 2024, she joined the organizing team of Le Cercle Enchanté, an international vocal improvisation retreat based in France, where she met artists like Lior Shoov and Les Humanophones, who deeply inspire her approach. Poetic, melodic, deep, joyful: words that capture her approach well. What's here, right now? How do we move toward authenticity, in service of harmony? Sophie also practises Contact Improvisation, and begins a Body-Mind Centering (BMC) training in fall 2026. She's also part of the Montreal-based indie-folk duo Oui Dentelle. www.bijj.ca

Ariana Pedrosa

Trained as a bassoonist and holding a doctorate in musical performance, she has developed a rich artistic and pedagogical experience in orchestral and chamber music, choro, teaching, and creative work. Today, her practice extends into a broader exploration of the body, movement, and creativity. Geremia Lorenzo Lodi

EN If he had been born in 1113, Geremia would probably have called himself a musical alchemist: in his work, he transforms energy into sound, then uses sound to create connections, communicate authentically, and explore new sonic horizons. Since he was born in the 20th century, he generally introduces himself simply as a musician. As part of a Master's degree in Music Education at McGill University, he explored the role of the body in musical creation and improvisation (McGill University, 2013). His research focused in particular on the embodied musical practices of Meredith Monk, Pauline Oliveros, and Rhiannon. Over the years, he has developed and refined his workshops in a wide range of contexts: from numerous elementary and secondary schools across Quebec, to training high-level artists at the National Circus School, as well as projects with children and youth in Northern communities of Nunavik, including neurodivergent participants. He is also trained in the Musica do Círculo approach (Levels 1, 2 and 3) and has studied with numerous body percussion specialists.

Erwan Noblet

Site internet : www.erwannoblet.com

In 2017, he participated in the National Center for Voice and Speech Vocology summer program at the University of Utah. He later earned a Master of Music in Contemporary Voice Pedagogy from Shenandoah University in Virginia. Building on these experiences, he undertook the Vocal River training program "All The Way In" with Rhiannon in 2023, then served as a co-pilot for that program in 2025. In 2024, he completed the Leading Música do Círculo training in Brazil, where cooperation and playful learning are central to the pedagogy.
