The International Jazz Festival in Montreal holds a Guinness World Record for being the largest jazz festival in the world. For the indie music lovers, the perfect places are Casa del Popolo and La Sala Rossa, which are sister venues, across the road from each other. Divan Orange Bar not only hosts indie music bands but is a venue for album launches, underground acts and first-timers as well. Montreal International Jazz Festival will always be listed on top of this list. With more than 600 performances and 2 million visitors, it can’t get bigger than this. In recent years, though, one of the most talked about festival has been indie music summer festival Osheaga. It is a three-day event which not only features the big names but also local talent alongside. There is Heavy Montreal, a heavy metal festival for the rock fans.
