En 2013, Michel Bordeleau joue avec la formation « La Bande de vielles » lors d’un voyage en France et décide à son retour qu’il veut créer sa propre « bande de vielleux ». Il commence alors à organiser des rencontres informelles pour le plaisir. Avec le temps le groupe s’agrandit et commence à prendre forme.

Le Vièlle orchestre devient un habitué du festival Chant de Vielle à compter de 2014, puisqu’il prend part à chaque année à Chants de Vielle et fait danser les festivaliers pour leur plus grand plaisir.
