*Contemplation Compilation* is a charitable, community-oriented project that seeks to build agency and access to self-care using Hypnotherapy and Meditation and collaborative music production. We are currently accepting submissions for participation on an album of sound art/music in conjunction with Hypno-Meditative narration by Andrea Young of Young Ascension Hypnosis. The project will be open to gender queer/lgbtq and female identifying producers interested in the intersection of collective and individual spiritual healing and creativity.
The production will look like this:
Selected candidates will meet for a Community Hypno-Meditation Session. At this time Andrea will give an information session regarding Hypnotherapy and how it works, followed by a group session. This will be a chance for contributing artists to experience first hand the what and how of hypnosis.
Following the session we will discuss the topics affecting the mental health of us as a community, and us as individuals. Each artist will then have 2 days to submit a proposed healing topic (from mundane to deep; nail biting to embodiment to releasing trauma etc.) and brief description of their desired sound piece, i.e. what “vibe”, influences, instruments or tempos. Andrea will then individually write/improvise and narrate the track using Hypnotic techniques and language.
Tracks can be between 9-16 minutes long. Artists can choose to use their own recording site or have access to a professional studio and production.
Conceived of and produced by Andrea Young and Julia Dyck this project is born out of a desire to democratize mental health and spiritual wellness in our community. Young, a National Guild of Hypnosis certified Hypnotherapist, artist and writer has been serving the LGBTQ and creative community of Montreal (and abroad) for over 2 years. Her practice is influenced by Vajrayana Buddhism, Shamanism and Earth-based spirituality.
Julia is a musician, sound artist, and radio host who first tried Andrea’s hypnotherapy services to quit smoking. She has since become a strong believer in the practice and would like to help bring the healing she experienced to a greater audience. Julia also believes in the healing power of music and tonal therapy.
We are currently accepting submissions from musicians and sound artists. If this interests you, please send an email introducing yourself and an attached mp3 or link to some recent work to youngascensionhypnosis | gmail ! com
This project is open to emerging and established artists as well as students; those who identify as marginalized or survivors of trauma or mental illness are encouraged to submit.
Our hope for this project is two-fold: by collaborating with our community we want to increase access to Hypno-Meditative healing. And, as all proceeds of this project will be charitably donated (organization tba) we want contributors to have an empowered approach to social change.
Once completed, we intend to showcase the Contemplation Compilation album in a public setting and to sell as a digital download.
