☀️ What better way to embrace the sun than solar printing? On June 21, join us with artist Sonia Bazar for a cyanotype workshop.

Workshop participants are invited to create their own cyanotype print using pretreated cyanotype fabric, found plant matter and personal household items. During the workshop, Bazar will guide guests in creating their pieces, and will demonstrate how the medium is used in her artistic practice. Upon bringing the cyanotypes home, prints can be stitched into a tote bag, hoodie, or even a quilt for an added special touch. All levels of experience are welcome!

Meeting Point: We will meet the corner of Rue St-Dominique and Av. Fairmount (approximate address: 5198 rue St-Dominique). Afterwards, we will make our way back to the Museum of Jewish Montreal (5220 boul. St-Laurent).

In addition to foraged materials, guests are encouraged to bring items from home! We suggest objects with elements of translucency and that can easily fit under a sheet of glass. Some ideas include:

- Lace
- Mesh
- Jewelry
- Photo negatives
- Small figurines
- Dried flowers
- Buttons
- Thread or yarn
 
Tickets are $25, with all necessary materials provided. Due to limited capacity, advanced registration is encouraged.

Sonia Bazar is a Montreal-born and based artist, who holds an MFA in Photography from Concordia University. Through sculpture, photography and poetry, their practice examines the notion of alien landscapes and how the body belongs to space. Sonia’s work has been shown in Canada, Germany, and Spain. In 2023, Bazar presented her multidisciplinary practice in the exhibition BACK RIVER at the Museum of Jewish Montreal.

☀️ Quoi de mieux que l’impression solaire pour profiter du soleil ? Le 21 juin, rejoignez-nous en compagnie de l’artiste Sonia Bazar pour un atelier de cyanotype.

Les participants à l’atelier sont invités à créer leur propre cyanotype à l’aide de tissu pré-traité, de végétaux trouvés dans la nature et d’objets personnels du quotidien. Au cours de l’atelier, Sonia Bazar guidera les participants dans la création de leurs œuvres et leur montrera comment elle utilise cette technique dans sa pratique artistique. Une fois les cyanotypes ramenés à la maison, les impressions peuvent être cousues sur un sac fourre-tout, un sweat à capuche ou même une courtepointe pour y ajouter une touche spéciale. Tous les niveaux d’expérience sont les bienvenus !

Point de rencontre : Nous nous retrouverons à l’angle de la rue Saint-Dominique et de l’avenue Fairmount (approx : 5198, rue Saint-Dominique). Ensuite, nous retournerons au Musée du Montréal juif (5220, boul. Saint-Laurent).

En plus des matériaux trouvés sur place, les participants sont encouragés à apporter des objets de chez eux ! Nous suggérons des objets présentant des éléments translucides et pouvant facilement tenir sous une feuille de verre. Voici quelques idées :

- Bijoux
- Négatifs photographiques
- Petites figurines
- Fleurs séchées
- Boutons
- Fil ou laine

Les billets sont au prix de 25 $, tout le matériel nécessaire est fourni. En raison du nombre de places limité, il est recommandé de s’inscrire à l’avance.

Sonia Bazar est artiste née et basée à Montréal, titulaire d’une maîtrise en photographie de l’université Concordia.
