On Sunday, April 26, please join us with local artisan Sheryl Shore of Mile-End Soap & Candle Supply for an afternoon of beeswax candle making.

Focused on havdalah candles – a multi-wick candle traditionally used to mark the end of Shabbat – this workshop will guide participants through every step of the process. Guests who do not celebrate Shabbat are of course welcome to create regular taper candles, birthday candles, or candles significant to a practice of their own. During the workshop, Sheryl will also provide context on candle making, the life of bees and wax production, and her personal experiences with the craft. No prior experience required!

Tickets are $30 per person. All necessary materials provided. Due to limited capacity, advanced registration is encouraged.

ABOUT SHERYL: Lured by the intoxicating aroma of beeswax, Sheryl Shore began dipping candles 25 years ago. Shore is committed to valourizing the work of bees who create the wax, and brings a modern take on the ancient craft. Shore grew up with a very strong cultural Jewish identity, and the nuanced relationship she has with her traditional background has led her to create candles that may contribute to peaceful contemplation. Le dimanche 26 avril, venez nous rejoindre avec artisane locale Sheryl Shore, de Mile-End Soap & Candle Supply, pour un après-midi consacré à la fabrication de bougies en cire d'abeille

Axé sur les bougies de Havdalah – des bougies à plusieurs mèches traditionnellement utilisées pour marquer la fin du Shabbat – cet atelier guidera les participants à chaque étape du processus. Les participants qui ne célèbrent pas le Shabbat sont bien sûr invités à créer des bougies effilées classiques, des bougies d’anniversaire ou des bougies ayant une signification particulière pour leur propre pratique. Au cours de l’atelier, Sheryl abordera également le contexte de la fabrication des bougies, la vie des abeilles et la production de cire, ainsi que ses expériences personnelles avec cet artisanat. Aucune expérience préalable n’est requise !

30 $chacun. tout le matériel nécessaire est fourni. En raison du nombre de places limité, il est recommandé de s’inscrire à l’avance.

À PROPOS DE SHERYL: Séduite par l’arôme enivrant de la cire d’abeille, Sheryl Shore s’est lancée dans la fabrication de bougies il y a 25 ans. Elle s’engage à valoriser le travail des abeilles qui produisent la cire et apporte une touche moderne à cet artisanat ancestral. Ayant grandi avec une identité culturelle juive très forte, la relation nuancée qu’elle entretient avec ses origines traditionnelles l’a amenée à créer des bougies susceptibles de favoriser la contemplation paisible.
