Together, we have spoken and keynoted at conferences from Los Angeles to Austria. We were both featured artists (and the only international participants) at the Equality Fashion Week in LA, as well as during the Fat Liberation Convention in Calgary. With decades of combined experience in organizing and running events, we hope this event will be the first iteration of many!Elio Choquette (they/them)Elio is a Montreal-based disabled queer trans licensed architect, inclusive design consultant, artist, speaker, and educator with over 15 years of experience across their various fields. Their multidisciplinary practice mixes architectural research, photography and writing. Since 2018, their work has been published in several journals and anthologies, such as SITE Magazine and archithese. Recently, their research on ‘undesigning’ and embedding inclusion in architectural practices was presented at conferences across Canada and Europe. Elio also created and curates “Here We Will Be”, a self-published visual and written archive of queer and trans joy. Their work has received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec (CALQ), as well as festivals, conferences, and publications.Rae Hill (they/them)Rae is an award-winning speaker, educator, and advocate—and the founder of Origami Customs, an inclusive custom lingerie and swimwear brand, handmade in Montreal. Leading the gender affirming market, the brand asks the question, “Who is afforded access to affirming clothing?” This is why, for the past eight years, the business has been collaborating with over a hundred non-governmental organizations and community partners worldwide, who distribute their products for free to members of the 2LGBTQIA+ community who don’t have access to them, on top of its commercial activities.
