A queer feast of dramatic comedy about faith, family, and euphoria, Rapture takes place on a single day in the lives of a pastor, his wife, and their daughters. As the day unfolds, a collision of secrets threatens to upend the family for good. This timely play explores a medley of family dysfunction, the oppressive and paradoxically liberating forces of religion, and, at long last, the demise of the Patriarchy… at least in one family.

Kristen Plylar-Moore is an educator and writer, and Rapture is her first full-length play. Kristen’s previous work includes Revival, a spiritual folk-rock music show with themes of love and justice. After premiering at WOW Café Theater in New York City in December of 2016, Revival was performed in numerous venues around NYC, and in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Minneapolis, and Vermont. Kristen also partnered with HIAS (a global Jewish non-profit that protects refugees of all faiths and nationalities) to release a music video for “You Were Strangers,” a song from Revival. Another song, “Mother Was the Earth,” was included as part of Musical Theater Factory’s New Wave Gathering at Joe’s Pub in NYC in 2019, which featured the music of women and trans emerging songwriters. Kristen was an active member of WOW Cafe Theater for several years where she directed Romeo & Juliet, Galileo, and the annual youth show. She has a Masters in Educational Theatre from The City College of New York, a BFA in Drama from the University of Oklahoma, and taught theater for 15 years to students ages K-12. She has lived in Montpelier with her wife Julia since 2021.
