Set to take place from November 26-30, 2025, at The Spheres in Montesilvano, Italy, the Premio Bruno Mezzena invites pianists of all nationalities to compete across several age categories. The final round for the Soloists category will feature a concerto with orchestra. All rounds will be live-streamed and recorded. In collaboration with Fabbrini Pianoforti, participants can choose between four concert grand pianos: two Steinway Model D-274 (Hamburg), a Bechstein D, and a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX.
The competition takes place at Odradek Records' studio "The Spheres," an ideal performance environment located in Montesilvano, Italy, just a few minutes' drive from the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Adriatic Sea and the snow-capped peaks of the Maiella massif, with the aim of presenting young musical talents from all over the world, offering them an opportunity to express their talents and receive international recognition.
The competition is named after the distinguished pianist Bruno Mezzena (1927-2017), director from 1984 to 2011 of the Accademia Musicale Pescarese. Trentino-born, he had made Abruzzo his home since the early 1980s. Known for his outstanding contributions to the world of classical music, he was also a passionate teacher and, during his years of leadership, made Pescara and his academy a leading centre in the training of piano talent from around the world.
