Plaintiff in two legal actions against the MPWMD, the first unsuccessful and the second successful. - MONTEREY PENINSULA TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION: Founded over 35 years ago MPTA has been a tireless advocate on behalf of the taxpayers on the Monterey Peninsula. They are actively involved in reviewing tax measure before, during and after elections. We monitor the activities of public agencies to ensure they are following the letter of the law. We have participated in numerous legal actions in concert with other organizations and when necessary on our own. Many years ago we successfully file suit against the County of Monterey when they enacted a sales tax measure with 5 votes over the 50% majority with the courts agreeing with our argument that it needed a 2/3 majority. The win resulted in the return of multiple millions of illegally collected sales tax dollars to the taxpayers. We have just successfully won a case against the Water Management Board for their failure to follow their own ordinance and sunset the Water Supply Charge. The has already saved the taxpayers over 3 million dollars and refund checks for over 3 million dollars are due to be mailed in March. - The address for London Bridge Pub is 256 Figueroa St in Monterey, CA, on Wharf #2.
