Boessenecker, author of 13 books including the New York Times bestseller Texas Ranger: The Epic Life of Frank Hamer, the Man Who Killed Bonnie and Clyde, will explore the violent and legendary story of Joaquin Murrieta and his ties to Monterey County. Often called the “Robin Hood of El Dorado,” Murrieta’s dramatic life has inspired generations of stories and folklore—including the legend of Zorro.

Named Best Nonfiction Writer by True West Magazine in 2011, 2013, and 2018, Boessenecker has also received honors from the Western Writers of America, Westerners International, and the International Latin Book Awards.

Books will be available for purchase, and the author will be signing copies following the presentation.

Admission is free and open to the public.
