SummerART: Studio Art Camp Session IV - Ages 9–12
Our in-person Studio Art Camp encourages experimentation, creative thinking and skill development in a safe, fun, supportive and socially engaging environment with other creative kids. Campers are grouped in age-specific art pods lead by our professional Teaching Artists, with enrollment limited to 12 children to ensure social distancing and personalized attention.
Each session is inspired by a different theme with exciting new projects providing age-appropriate challenges for campers to explore a variety of mediums and techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed media.
Lunch and recess will be supervised for safety and social distancing with organized games and activities. Afternoons will focus on specialized instruction in a different art form, such as comic art or printmaking, so campers can sharpen medium-specific skills and develop their own voice for creative self-expression.
Classes will take place in our spacious studios and outdoors on the museum grounds. All COVID-19 guidelines, including mask-wearing and social distancing, will be followed, for a safe, social, creative experience. Each camper will be provided with their own art supplies so materials will not be shared with others. In the event that the museum must close or a pod must quarantine, camp will continue online via Zoom, and students will take their supplies home, so they will have all the supplies they need continue to develop their artistic skills.
Session IV Theme: Shine on!
Days are long and the surf is up! This session celebrates summer fun in all its varieties, from lazy days at the beach, to joyous road trip adventures. Campers create art inspired by their favorite summer activities, from chasing fireflies, to camping on mountainsides, exploring national parks, and rides on the boardwalk. Look up - here comes the sun!
