- **Event Description**: You've taken a Brioche class, and are comfortable with the basics of two-color brioche, but what's next? Level up with this super squishy 2-color brioche beret/slouchy hat, the Solstice Beret by Saysha Greene. In this class, you'll learn from the designer herself, and put your knowledge of the Brioche Knit (bark) and Brioche Purl (burp) to work, and learn a variety of Brioche increases and decrease stitches that will be used to create a faux cable pattern throughout, and shape the crown of the hat. The stitches used include brkyobrk, brsssk, brk3tog, and br4stdec . . . whoo hoo!

This is an intermediate level class. Participants should be confident knitters who can Brioche Knit, Brioche Purl, fix their own mistakes in knit and purl, know how to easily recognize knit from purl, and be able to create both stockinette and ribbing without supervision.

The in-person class will be held in the store. All classes are for ages 16+ unless otherwise noted. 

Note on Materials: All materials are available at Yarnia. Yarn for the project must be purchased at Yarnia; come in or call before your first class for help in selecting appropriate materials and get a 10% discount on yarn purchased for class use.  If you have already purchased yarn from us, you may use that yarn in this class.

Materials:

The Solstice Beret (Slouch) pattern by Saysha Greene
smooth, worsted-weight yarn in two clearly contrasting colors (1 skein of each color)
US 6 and US 9 16" circular knitting needles
US9 double-pointed needles
4 stitch markers (1 for beginning of row and 3 others)
crochet hook or stitch fixer
ruler to measure gauge
tapestry needle
Class fee is $110 for three 2-hour in-person sessions and does not include the materials. Please arrive at Yarnia 10 minutes before the start of class, with materials in hand. Yarn for the project must be purchased at Yarnia; come in or call before your first class for help in selecting appropriate materials and get a 10% discount on yarn purchased for class use.
