Comfort and Joy: A Holiday Concert by the New Jersey Choral Society
In their return to live performances, the New Jersey Choral Society presents a concert of holiday music in which the chorus revisits some personal favorites while exploring exciting new works as well in celebration of our 40th anniversary.
The music chosen reflects the joy of this anniversary and the hope of normalcy while recognizing the difficulties and tragedy of the last two years. This concert is an eclectic array of old friends, a seasonal favorite or two, and interesting and beautiful compositions from renowned artists like Eric Whitacre, Michael J. Trotta, Morten Lauridsen, Pentatonix and our own Rita Blacker. And, of course, there will be traditional carols, a joyful spiritual, a Kwanzaa anthem and an iconic dreidel song to herald the beginning of the holiday season. It all ties together with the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
