Mosaics are an ancient art form dating back more than 2000 years and currently undergoing a contemporary renaissance. In this week long workshop the focus is on one-on-one guidance, direction and support. I will introduce the medium to newcomers and have instruction for experienced students in all aspects of design, color, shape and andamento, or ‘flow’ of how mosaic tesserae are placed. Students can work on 1 large mosaic or several smaller works; one can choose to work abstractly or representationally, the medium is rich in opportunity. We work in the indirect method, all steps and variations will be taught with trowel skills emphasized. I have 25 years of experience in mosaic and I am happy to share all I have learned along the way from mosaic design to problem solving technical issues unique to the art-form.  I encourage all interested and/or enrolled students to contact me in advance to discuss via email or phone individual goals for the workshop.
