Weekly art classes for children ages 5–14 begin September 9th at the cozy Village Hands Café in Monroe. Classes are held every Tuesday at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM and are taught in English and Russian by Dasha Kuznetsov- artstudio5005 instructor.

Our program offers a rich variety of styles, techniques, and media. Students will explore painting, drawing, sculpting, and more—learning to work with light and shadow, warm and cool color palettes, contrast, balance, composition, and movement.

Some lessons will be inspired by art history and the great masters, while others will focus on creative imagination—bringing to life the ideas and images that live in our minds. Together, we will study classical, decorative, applied, design, and modern art, often mixing techniques and styles for exciting results.

What we do in class:

Painting (oil, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, tempera, silk inks/dyes)

Drawing (life drawing, sketching, proportion, perspective, composition)

Sculpture & clay modeling

Printmaking & small installations

Using ink, pastels, professional pencils, markers, and more

Our studio is a home for creativity, learning, and joy—a friendly and welcoming space where every student is treated like family. We encourage self-expression, build confidence, and help children trust their artistic voice, with individual approach. This is not a step by step class- we do not copy from photos, and we do not draw/touch our student’s works, this is strictly their art space where they learn to work on their own with our guidance. We want them to become familiar with different media and techniques and feel the freedom of creativity. Our main goal is to make sure that our students feel confident through art, and are happy in their creative activity, (understand that they can achieve a lot by just working with their soul), they can keep growing independently as individuals and acknowledge that anything and everything is possible!

All materials are provided.

Program may be adjusted based on the group’s progress and abilities.
