Do you have an exotic pet that you are no longer able to care for?
If so, bring your pet to the Exotic Pet Surrender Event on February 28th between 12 PM and 3 PM at Green County Land and Water Conservation Dept. (GCLWCD) Office at 1627 4th Ave W, Monroe, WI 53566.
This event takes place during National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW), a nationwide effort to raise awareness about the threats invasive species pose to native ecosystems. One of the leading causes of invasive species introductions is the release of exotic pets into the wild. By providing safe and responsible surrender options, we're helping prevent future ecological harm—and giving these pets a second chance at life in a loving home.
📸 Event Highlights:
• Surrender your pets in a safe, judgement free environment
• Meet animal ambassadors and learn about their stories.
• Capture memories at our photobooth with rescued pets!
🐠🦗 What we're accepting: Fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals, and plants—no questions asked.
Ensure your pet's safety by bringing them in a secure, water-resistant container.
🚫 What we're not accepting: Domestic pets like dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, and chickens. If you have domestic animals, inquire with local shelters or rescues for rehoming options.
Birds, Reptiles, and Mammals from out of state must be accompanied by a CVI (health certificate)
After a brief quarantine period, all surrendered animals will be available for adoption through J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue.
