After years away, The Dragonfly is returning to the city where generations have admired it, photographed it, and called it part of Monroe's story.

Originally unveiled in 1995, artist Edmund Williamson's iconic dragonfly sculpture has long been a recognizable symbol of creativity and community. Now, after a thoughtful restoration and relocation, it has once again found a home in Forsythe Park, where a new generation can discover, enjoy, and create memories around this treasured work of public art.

The restoration and return of The Dragonfly was made possible through the generosity and collaboration of the Playground League for All Youth at Forsythe, Monroe City Councilman Doug Harvey, James Machine Works, the City of Monroe, 33 Friends of the Dragonfly, and our friend, restoration artist Brooke Foy, whose collective support made it possible to restore and permanently reinstall this beloved Monroe landmark for the community to enjoy once again.

Join the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council and the City of Monroe as we celebrate the return of one of Monroe's most cherished public art landmarks with an evening of community, creativity, and family fun.
