# Event Details - **Event Name**: MVCC Euchre Tournament - **Event Start and End Date**: Sun, 23 Aug, 2026 at 02:00 pm – Sun, 23 Aug, 2026 at 06:00 pm (-04:00) - **Event Description**: Join us for an competitive Euchre tournament at Mon Valley Country Club!About this EventMVCC Euchre Tournament - SUMMER 2026Come join us at the Mon Valley Country Club for a fun-filled afternoon of Euchre!Sunday, August 23rd2:00 PM Start TimeYou do NOT have to be a member of MVCC to participate in the tournament!Entry Fee: $40 per person (cash only, pay at the club when you arrive)Food is included with your registration feeDrinks available for purchase (non-members must be signed in by a member to have alcohol)Sign up as an individual - teams will be randomly assignedPrize pool payouts (individual): 60% 1st place, 30% 2nd place, 10% 3rd placeRULES:● Players will be randomly assigned tables by a drawing at the start of the tournament● Winners stay at their table● Losers move to the next table● At each new table, cards will be drawn to determine partners (cannot play with the samepartner two games in a row)Dealing:● All deals must be 2,2,2,2 then 3,3,3,3 or 3,3,3,3 then 2,2,2,2.● Ten rounds with 8 deals per round.● Each player MUST deal twice per round with one deal at a time.● To determine the first deal of the game, cards will be dealt face up until a player receivesany Jack. That player then becomes the dealer. From there the deal rotates clockwiseeach hand.● All 5 books must be played out with 1 card at a time.● If a misdeal occurs, all cards will be returned to the dealer, who will shuffle and dealagain. No penalties or loss of deal will occur. This will not count as a hand in the match.Once again, everyone must deal twice.Gameplay:● A player may ask, “What was led and who threw what?”.● A player may ask, “What is trump?”.● A player may ask, "What was turned up?"● Also, a player is permitted to see the widow card if the widow card was turned down.● A player may NOT steal a deal. Each player MUST deal twice per round.● Stick the dealer does apply.● A player may NOT call “no trump”A player may not pass until the dealer turns up the trump card in the widow● The dealer must ask for a cut and the cut must be more than 3 cards if someonechooses to cut the cards.● A player can’t shoot alone against a lone hand.● A card laid is a card played.● Books must be neatly stacked in case of a renege.● A player must have trump to call that suit or order up.● A turned up card is part of the dealer's hand and may be picked up regardless of nothaving trump in the dealt 5 cards.● Cards played out of turn (not the lead) must stay on table and be played when appropriateand CAN’T win the trick.● No mucking with “weak” hands (for example all 9’s and 10’s or Ace no face).● At the end of a round, and points are tied, the first team to reach those points is deemedthe “winner” at the table and will stay at the current table.● Tricks taken must be neatly arranged in a crisscross fashion (to facilitate reviews overdiscrepancies).● Table talk of any kind is strictly prohibited.Scoring:Regular play● 1 point is awarded for winning 3 or 4 tricks as "caller"● 2 points are awarded for taking all 5 of the tricks● 2 points are awarded for a Euchre (3 or more tricks taken by the "non-callers")● 2 points are awarded for a renege to either team that catches the renege● 1 point is awarded for winning 3 or 4 tricks as the "caller" of a lone hand● 4 points for a declared "loner", winning all five tricks alone● 2 points awarded to the team that euchres the "caller"● 4 points awarded to the “caller” of a lone hand if a renege is caught by the “calling team”● 4 points are awarded to the “non-callers” if there is a renege by the “calling team” on a lone hand***All disputes must be immediately taken to the tournament director.
