The Equus360 Youth educational pathway has been designed to support the progressive development of equine knowledge from Pony Club Foundation levels through to B Test standard, combining practical horsemanship with structured anatomical and biomechanical understanding. The programme introduces young riders to technical terminology, observational skills and safe, ethical handling practices that reflect recognised Pony Club training objectives.



At the foundation stage, participants develop confidence in identifying the points of the horse, using correct anatomical language consistent with Pony Club expectations. As learning progresses, students begin to interpret how external landmarks relate to internal structures, encouraging a deeper understanding of posture, balance and the functional design of the horse.



The skeletal component expands beyond simple bone recognition to include:

• Functional regions of the axial and appendicular skeleton

• Basic joint orientation and movement capacity

• Principles of weight distribution and limb loading

• Relationship between skeletal structure and gait efficiency



These concepts support the knowledge base required as riders move toward Pony Club C and B Test theory, where a greater appreciation of anatomy, conditioning and horse welfare is expected.



Practical sessions with a live horse allow students to apply theoretical learning within a supervised environment. Participants practise safe positioning, accurate identification of landmarks and respectful interaction with the horse, reinforcing Pony Club standards relating to horse care, rider awareness and responsible horsemanship. Observation tasks encourage learners to consider posture, balance and symmetry without moving into diagnosis or veterinary interpretation.
